A few weeks ago, the internet was buzzing with different versions of “2025 wrapped” posts here and there. Now, it’s time to check the 2025 wrapped edition of our favorite platform, Wix.
In this blog, we will cover the top 10 updates, features, and upgrades that Wix released in 2025. Unsurprisingly, they are more focused on AI, with other development updates, non-code mentions, and really cool upgrades worth checking out.
If you want to learn more about these updates, dive right in and let’s uncover them from the top 10 to the first on the list.
Top 10 AI and Dev Updates in Wix 2025
Here are the top AI and dev updates Wix released in 2025 and what they mean for you.
10: Custom Form Triggers:
This new automation trigger enables you to use a custom form submission to trigger Wix automation without writing code. This means you can now send an automated email or perform other automation actions after a custom form submission without writing a single line of code.

9. LLMs.txt and AI Discoverability Tools:
These are SEO (search Engine Optimization) and GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) related updates.
The llms.txt is basically instructions on how AI robots and crawlers can crawl your website. They are similar to the robots.txt in typical SEO crawlers.
The AI discoverability tools, on the other hand, provide statistics on when and where your sites appear in AI-powered chats such as ChatGPT and Claude.
Although these tools are potentially useful, it will likely take about a year for us to fully determine their impact and how much we can do so that our sites appear in AI mentions and discussions. No hard feelings, though; this is why it was ranked a bit low in the list.
8. Search API:
This new Wix data API allows you to add enhanced search functionality to your site. With it, users can perform a broad search across large data collections, rather than entering a specific query in a specific field. They can also get accurate search results even if they made a spelling mistake in the search query they entered.
This API basically makes it easier for users to search and access information on your site.

7. Patch API:
This is another important data API that Wix released in 2025. It provides an easy way for users to update only one specific item in a data item. Unlike when we had to use a query to retrieve an item, update it, and then save it, which sometimes results in problems like stale data.
However, with this new API, we can easily retrieve and update a specific field anytime we want to update an item.
6. Wix Forum Deprecation:
This update came as a shock and didn’t sit well with most users, but then it’s monumental and worth adding to the list.

The forum was a native app in Wix that allows people to build a community forum on their site. People can ask questions, provide answers, and basically interact with each other, but Wix announced its discontinuation last year.

Although an alternative app, the Wix group, was provided to allow members to connect and share, most people are still not satisfied with it.
5. Model Context Protocol (MCP):
MCP is a major update that emerged in the AI world at large in 2025. It provides an easy way for large language models, such as ChatGPT, to interact with external tools.
Wix implemented this in two ways. There is a general MCP server that enables you to use AI agents like Cursor or Claude to interact with the Wix developer documentation or APIs. The other update is that all Wix websites are now on MCP servers by default.

This means that people can use AI agents like ChatGPT to ask questions about the products or services you offer without visiting your website.
This update is a game-changer and will gain more traction in the years to come. If you want to learn more about the Wix MCP server, this video is a great resource.
4. Wix Vibe:
Vibe coding is another trend that emerged on the internet last year, and Wix didn’t hesitate to jump on it by introducing Wix Vibe.

Wix Vibe lets you create a website using conversational prompts with full flexibility to edit the code and control its functionality if you’re a developer.

It’s similar to lovable, an AI app and website builder, except that it uses the Wix headless with a React front-end interface.
3. Wix Studio Branch:
This is the long-awaited bridge between the two popular editors. I.e., the classic Wix editor, which has been in existence for a while, and the recent Wix Studio. Wix Studio has gained a lot of popularity due to its additional features that aren’t available in Wix Classic.
With this new feature in Wix, you can recreate the front end of your classic Wix website on Wix Studio while keeping your previous dashboard data.

2. Transition From SPA to MPA:
This was ranked number 2 in the list after a series of skepticism. However, it’s an update that really affects every single website and has the potential to completely change the game for Wix and increase websites' speed.
Before this transition, the Single Page Application (SPA) usually downloads all your site content and resources to a client's browser at once when someone visits your site for the first time.
However, the Multi-Page Application (MPA) does it differently by loading each page on your site independently.
This means that when someone navigates to a page on your Wix website, only that page is requested from the server, which can potentially speed up the loading time.
Notable Mentions:
Before we proceed to the first on the list, I’d like to touch on these notable items, although I have yet to determine their impact or even experiment with them fully, but they sure have a lot of potential.
– Manage Item Page: This allows site owners to give their users an interface to update and edit items in a CMS collection using a dynamic type page.
– Pipelines: This replaces the previous workflows, but from my experience, it’s pretty much the same thing. However, it’s essentially a new product that allows you to do a sort of project management or lead management through the Wix dashboard. It helps you to keep track of tasks and manage them within your team.
– Multi Currency: This allows you to add multiple currencies to your Wix website, but I haven’t seen it rolled out 100% yet, and it has some specific limitations that I'm not quite sure of, but you can keep an eye on it.
– New Wix CLI: Wix also added updates to their CLI, which allows users to build applications and Wix headless websites. This didn’t make it to the top 10 list because I haven't tried it out yet, but you can keep an eye on it.
– Managed Headless: This is an expansion on the current Wix headless, which is basically an option to use only the Wix backend and combine it with whatever frontend you want. This new update gives you scaling and hosting capabilities beyond the backend.
NOW, IT’S TIME FOR THE BIG REVEAL!
JavaScript SDK:
This is also widely referred to as the death or deprecation of Velo.
Let’s take it back a bit: Velo is the general name for the entire development system within Wix, but its deprecation doesn’t mean custom solutions in Wix are gone.
What this simply means is that the approach to building these solutions has changed.
Previously, Velo involved controlling various elements within the editor, as well as the wide range of libraries and different packages that Wix offers to interact with the various business solutions and APIs. They were also prebuilt in your Wix website when you started developing.
However, with this new shift to the JavaScript SDK, you can now install the packages when you need them, rather than having them preinstalled. This focus on a package-based approach has also been the foundation upon which all other things we have mentioned previously, such as MCP, Wix Vibe, and CLI, are built.
In my opinion, this shift is the most foundational thing Wix has done in the past year.
If you think there are other notable upgrades Wix made last year that I didn’t mention, kindly share them in the comments section. I will be glad to read them.
